Terms of use
The licence and rules for using the TurboGet app and its browser extensions. Written to be read, not to be scrolled past.
The short version
- TurboGet is free to use, at home or at work. Please don't sell it or repackage it.
- You are responsible for what you download. Only download content you have the right to.
- TurboGet comes as-is, without a warranty.
1. Agreement
These terms apply to the TurboGet desktop application, its browser extensions and add-ons, and their updates (together, "TurboGet"), published by Shahrukh Sheikh ("I", "me"). By downloading, installing or using TurboGet, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't install or use it.
2. Licence to use TurboGet
I grant you a free, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to download, install and use TurboGet on computers you own or control, for personal or business purposes, subject to these terms.
3. What you may not do
- Sell, rent, lease or sublicense TurboGet, or charge anyone for it.
- Redistribute modified versions of TurboGet, or bundle it with other software, adware or malware.
- Remove or change TurboGet's name, branding, copyright notices or these terms.
- Present TurboGet as your own work or imply that I endorse your product or service.
- Use TurboGet in a way that breaks the law or anyone else's rights.
Nothing in this section limits what you may do with the open-source components included in TurboGet under their own licences (see section 6).
4. What you download is your responsibility
TurboGet is a tool for downloading files and media from addresses you choose. It does not host, own or provide any content. You are solely responsible for making sure that you have the right to download, keep and use anything you download with it, and that you comply with copyright law and with the terms of the websites and services you use.
Many websites, including video platforms, restrict downloading in their own terms of service. Download only content you own, content that is freely licensed, or content the website and the copyright holder allow you to download.
TurboGet deliberately does not download DRM-protected content and does not include any means to bypass DRM, encryption keys you are not entitled to, paywalls or other access controls. You must not use it, or try to modify it, to do so.
5. Browser extensions
The TurboGet browser extensions and add-ons are part of TurboGet and are covered by these terms. If you install them from a browser store, that store's own terms also apply. What the extensions access and why is explained in the privacy policy.
6. Third-party components
TurboGet includes open-source software such as ffmpeg, yt-dlp, Python, Qt (through PySide6) and Node.js. Each component is licensed under its own terms, which apply to that component and take precedence over these terms for it. They are listed, with links to their licences and source code, on the open-source licenses page.
7. Third-party websites
TurboGet works with websites and services that I don't control. They can change at any time, which may stop some downloads from working. I'm not responsible for third-party websites, their content, their availability or their policies.
8. No warranty
TurboGet is provided "as is" and "as available", without any warranty of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement and uninterrupted or error-free operation. You use it at your own risk. Keep backups of anything important.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, I will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, files, profits, revenue or business, arising from your use of TurboGet or your inability to use it, even if I was told such damage was possible. My total liability for any claim relating to TurboGet is limited to the amount you paid for it, which is zero. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.
10. Indemnity
You agree to hold me harmless from claims, damages and costs arising from content you download with TurboGet or from your breach of these terms or of anyone else's rights.
11. Updates and ending this agreement
I may update, change or stop offering TurboGet, or any feature of it, at any time. Your licence ends automatically if you break these terms. You can end it at any time by uninstalling TurboGet and removing its extensions. Sections 4 and 6 to 12 continue to apply after the licence ends.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute will be handled by the courts of India that have jurisdiction, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim locally.
13. Changes to these terms
I may update these terms. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. If you keep using TurboGet after a change, you accept the updated terms.
